"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and  richer experience." – Eleanor Roosevelt.

Today, my friends, will be the last blog post for 2025. It is hard to believe that this year has passed so quickly. Much has happened so that I will be sharing a reflective retrospective.

Many of you who read this blog are aware that my Mom passed away several months ago - something that was unexpected. When you lose a loved one suddenly, life becomes chaotic. The following thoughts may arise: “I wish I had that one last chance to talk, say goodbye, etc.” However, life does not always grant us these wishes. Mom’s death helped me to re-examine life in my years.

We are granted only so many breaths in a lifetime; therefore, we need to make the best of them. All you have to do is peruse the social media pages to find a mis-spent life in our years through petty disagreements, divisive rhetoric, and lost friendships because of it. Instead, we should invite ourselves and others to focus on making this world better off than when we arrived on the planet. The question one should ask is, “Why am I here?” I know this topic can run deep, but it takes introspection and holding space for yourself to discover your path.

We can discover our path in several ways - journaling, mentorship, volunteering, and embracing the dance of life without fear or reservation. Turn off the noise of the outside world and laugh often. Embrace the people that cross paths with you in this lifetime. Observe the lessons from each encounter and express gratitude for the choices you make to refine your mission. Remember, everyone is your teacher. The most important lesson we can learn in life is to believe in ourselves and find a way to unite and assist the next person in line, rather than divide and leave them behind.

As I said earlier, the sudden death of a parent shifted my perspective. Both of my parents have transitioned from this world, leaving my siblings and me as the next generation who are vested with the responsibility of continuing and improving on the work they left behind. How can we accomplish this? Always do our best with the life in our years.

I wish you all the best of a holiday season and leave you with the words of Five For Fighting’s 100 Years to ponder new beginnings. Until next year -

Namaste,

Tim
